4 Easy DIY Projects to Spruce your Home up for Spring

Jan 30th 2021

Spring may still be a far way off from now, but it’s hard not to daydream about. Perhaps instead of daydreaming about the final mounds of snow melting away and the sun staying out past 6:00 again, you can start manifesting spring right now with some DIY home improvement projects. Here are a few simple ideas to help get your home as ready for spring as the rest of us are:

1. Put in a backyard fireplace

The best family memories are made around a campfire. Just because campgrounds are closed doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy s'mores and a few scary stories around the fire right in your own backyard. The great thing about a fireplace is that the basic elements are simple, so you can put as little or as much time and effort into it as you want. If you only have a few extra hours on your hands, you can build a decent fireplace with just a few bricks or stones and a shovel.

2. Replace kitchen or bathroom tile

Kitchen and bathroom floors take the most wear and tear out of any part of your house. If yours are starting to look particularly grimy, or you are starting to notice chips and cracks in old tiles (or even worse, peeling linoleum), it may be time to give them a makeover. While this project can be labor intensive, it usually doesn’t take too much time to perfect and can be completed with a few simple tools and a caulk gun.

3. Re-paint your walls

Nothing says spring like a fresh coat of paint. Whether it’s the inside or the outside of your house, re-painting can brighten the mood and make you feel like you just moved in. The best part is, painting can be as big or as small of a project as you want it to be, depending on how much you decide to cover.

4. Stain and seal your deck

Your deck is the perfect place to spend warm summer nights. However, because of its exposure to the outdoors, your deck may take quite the beating from the elements. It is a good idea to stain and seal your deck about once every year or two to make sure that it looks clean and doesn’t get waterlogged.

DIY projects are a great way to connect with family, stay active, and raise the value of your home. If you are having a hard time choosing which ones you’re dying to start, trust your gut! For all of your caulking and sealing needs, trust Silicone Depot. We’ve got you covered.
